23 Weeks Old

Ruby & Charlotte are 23 weeks old today. Ever since we threw away their pacifiers, the girls seem to sleep better through the night. They can soothe themselves back to sleep without much fussing if they do wake. We are glad that the transition away from pacifiers went so smoothly, we were prepared for some sleepless nights that never happened. It is hard to believe that in about 3 weeks they will be venturing into the world of solid food (albeit mashed/pureed solid food). When we eat in front of them, which does not happen too often, they are enthralled with watching the food go into our mouths. Even the dog eating catches their attention, though they enjoy anything the dog does. Enjoy the many photos and a video below!

22 Weeks Old

Ruby & Charlotte are 22 weeks old today, and 5 months old as of yesterday. We threw their pacifiers in the trash on Sunday morning, and both girls are going to sleep quite well without them already. We have put them in their cribs awake or drowsy since they were about 2 months old so they could start learning to fall asleep without our help. I believe that it is part of the reason that our girls sleep so well. They have been able to soothe themselves back to sleep if they wake during the night within a few minutes. They sleep from about 7pm to 6:30am for the most part. Ruby is starting to experiment more with her voice instead of just the happy screams, and Charlotte continues to talk loudly and matter-of-factly. Enjoy the photos and 2 videos below!

21 Weeks Old

Charlotte & Ruby are 21 weeks old today. Ruby rolled over from stomach to back for the first time yesterday after trying for many weeks. She continues to roll over now whenever she is on her stomach, so it seems tummy time play may have ended for her (though she was never thrilled with it). Charlotte is attempting to roll the opposite way (from back to stomach), but has not figured it out yet. We were able to go on our first walk around the neighborhood this past weekend. The weather warmed up briefly into the 40s so we ventured out for the first time in months. The girls were content to be in the stroller and look around, and as we headed back down our street Charlotte began to narrate the walk home. Now that we have the girls on a consistent 3 nap a day schedule, we are beginning to take away their pacifiers (which they only get during naps/bedtime). Ruby has never really loved hers much, but Charlotte is quite attached to it. Our goal is to have the pacifiers gone and the girls able to soothe themselves back to sleep before they are 6 months old. We introduced blankies to help ease the transition (we hope). Enjoy the photos and 3 videos below!

20 Weeks Old

Charlotte & Ruby are 20 weeks old today. Charlotte strains to sit up any time she is put into a reclined position. Ruby is intent on eating anything that comes near her mouth. They like toys more now that they can hold and control them better. Enjoy the photos and 2 videos below!
