I have noticed the activity of movement inside getting stronger each day, so I have been on a mission for Bob to experience it as well.
For the first time tonight, Bob was able to feel the girls (or just one of them, not quite sure since it was in the center of my stomach) move a couple times. We have tried repeatedly the past week but it seemed that the girls would go quiet as soon as his hand was near me. Even our dog felt them move before Bob had a chance. Siouxsie was resting her head on my stomach while we were on the couch last night and ended up getting kicked twice. I think she thought I had done it on purpose the way she looked at me and then promptly left the room.
Bob & I tried to take a photo to capture the moment a few minutes ago, but I was laughing too much at the thought of it looking like one of those strange pregnancy portraits people have done. (The kind where the mom to be is wearing a strategically draped white gauzy scarf while the kneeling dad to be looks lovingly at her bare stomach as he lays hands on it.) Needless to say, there is not a photo to post tonight.

Drumroll please....
Announcing, for the first time in print, that the Nelson twins are:

both girls!
(I am much more excited than the above expression captured shows, but my back was in a spasm at the time we were taking the photo.)
We have chosen the following names to appear on their birth certificates:
Baby A (formerly known as Adeline, prior to that as Jebidiah) is Charlotte Sueli Nelson.
Baby B (formerly known as Beauregard, prior to that as Virgil) is Ruby Lee Nelson.
Both girls are perfectly healthy and growing on schedule, with all of their organs and parts measuring correctly and in the right places. They are both breech (head up) and facing each other right now. During the ultrasound both had their backs turned towards us, so they were a bit difficult to see. They were in constant motion, wailing on each other most of the time since they are so close together. Charlotte is measuring 20w1d and weighs 12oz, while Ruby is 19w5d and weighs 10oz.
Below are a few photos from the ultrasound.
Profile view of Charlotte:

Ruby was moving too much to get a decent profile of, so we had to settle for a skull shot (but what a nicely formed skull it is):

Charlotte had her hand in her mouth for this shot:

As for me, I am measuring close to 26 weeks (per a singleton pregnancy) today though I will not be 20 weeks along until Thursday. The high risk doctor performed a cervix exam as well, and I am in no danger of preterm labor at this point. My blood pressure is still low, and I am gaining weight steadily to ensure that the girls are a healthy birthweight. It is getting harder and harder to move around, getting out of bed requires a few careful manuevers and trying to stand while putting on pants is quickly becoming a challenge. I feel the girls move each day, more so in the early morning (between 5-6am), but cannot distinguish who it is every time.
Bob and I are beyond happy to have two daughters on the way. We went to Babies R Us after we left the hospital and bought a few girl specific outfits and other necessities. We will be spending the next few weeks getting everything else needed and set for the girls' arrival since the doctor mentioned that modified bed rest may happen within the next couple of months just to be safe. My next appointment will be with the OB on June 2nd, so we may have more photos to share from an ultrasound then.

CA Baby Shower and Other News
I returned from CA late Sunday night. At 8:54pm, I felt one of the babies kicking for the first time when the plane began it's descent to O'Hare. It felt like popcorn popping in my uterus just below my belly button. I'm not sure which baby it was, since the feeling was in the center of my stomach. It was nice timing for whoever decided to kick that hard, because it was Mother's Day.
As happy as I was to reach home (there was a 4 hour delay on the flight), it is quite sad knowing I will not be able to visit again for a few years (assuming the kids will be ready to behave during an airplane ride by then). I saw as much of family and friends as possible in the 3 1/2 days I was there. The baby shower was held on Saturday, May 10 at my grandfather's home.
Below are a few photos from the party.
The cake, designed by Bob:
The Wallace side that could make it (from left - my dad, me, Great Aunt Lois, cousin Lyndsey, and Uncle Norbert):

My friend Linda & I:

Baby shower gifts (my mom has to ship most of it to me since my suitcase was bulging after adding only a few):

Prior to leaving for CA, Bob and I had been diligently working on preparing the house for the babies arrival. We want to get everything set (within reason) before I may have to go on bed rest until the end of the pregnancy, which could be as soon as late June. We plan to continue more after next week's ultrasound.
Below are some photos of the items we purchased and changes we have made so far.
Highchairs:

Bob builds one of the cribs:

Bob and the leftover piece (don't worry, we discovered that it is for converting the crib to a toddler bed):

Silly Ikea stuffed toys:

Toy organizer in the living room:

How the nursery looks right now (work in progress still):

We are anxiously awaiting next Tuesday, a week from today. Our level II ultrasound is scheduled at 1:00pm on May 20, where we should be able to find out the genders! Once we know, we will announce their names and add the ultrasound photos to the blog.
