Ruby & Charlotte are 2 years and 2 months. On Tuesday, November 9, a huge change was made in our home. During nap time (in which no one actually slept) I heard the door open downstairs. It was quickly shut again, but the damage had been done. Someone had climbed out of their crib, and to my surprise, it was Ruby. We had always assumed it would be Charlotte when the day came, as did everyone else I told. After talking about all the implications of this new skill (mainly the possible injuries if a landing did not go well), we decided to convert their cribs to toddler beds. The first few days were rough, as there was less sleeping and more running about wildly because they were no longer contained. But it has gotten easier, and sleep is more plentiful though not quite to the level it was with cribs. Enjoy the photos!
After I converted their cribs to toddler beds:
When they finally did quiet down during nap time (the 2nd day, about 15 minutes before it was time to wake) I found them sound asleep without clothing and in odd positions when it was time to get them up:
On the 3rd day (and from then on), they were under the covers and positioned normally, though clothing is still an option some days:
Looking at books after waking up one morning:
I searched high and low, and finally found a Paint With Water book, which they had fun with when Ava came over one morning:

Ruby is a cautious painter, dabbing the water on a little at a time:
Charlotte prefers to stir the water recklessly with her paintbrush and occasionally get the paper wet:
They have a new found love of pomegranate seeds, thanks to Melissa & Ava bringing them for snack one day:

OK, that is hilarious! SO awesome that they sleep fine now too. Since Lily's been in a big bed she sleeps horribly. Goes to bed fine but gets up wicked early and many times in the night.
